Currently, there are 28 states and 8 Union Territories in India, and each of them have their own capital cities and Official languages. With effect from 31th October 2019, India has 28 States and 8 Union Territories. The State of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh. Further, the Union territories of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli have been merged into a single union territory.
