I. A short passage followed by four questions to test comprehension.

Air Force Group X Eligibility Criteria

Air Force Group X AGE limit

(a) Candidate born between 17 January 2000 and 30 December 2003 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.
(b) In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the selection procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years.

Air Force Group X Educational Qualifications

Group X (Except Education Instructor Trade).
Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English

OR

Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream, as mentioned in the drop-down menu of the apply online section under candidate’s login on the CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in. The candidate should have completed the course from a Government recognized Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma (or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).

Medical Standards 

General Medical Standards for both Group ‘X’ (Except Education Instructor Trade) and Group ‘Y’ (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician) Trades is according to the Indian Air Force Standards

6 Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) Should have healthy gums, a good set of teeth and a minimum 14 dental points.
7 General Health Candidate should be of normal anatomy without the loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. The candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

Note–1: Candidate eligible for Group ‘X’ examination (on the basis of intermediate/10+2) are also eligible
for Group Y and would be given an option of appearing in both group X and Group Y exam in one sitting
while filling up the online registration form.
Note – 2: Diploma holders are eligible to appear for Group X trades only.
Note – 3: Education Boards listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, as on date of registration shall only be considered.

 

Air Force Group X Exam Pattern

The Indian Air Force conducts the Airmen X Selection Process in 3 Phases:

  1. Online Test

  2. Physical Tests (Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Test 1, Adaptability Test 2)

  3. Medical Examination

After you qualify Phase-I you will be called for Phase II. Phase II is physical ability tests

Phase – II – Physical Ability Tests

  1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
    • 1.6 Km run to be completed in 6.5 minutes

    • 10 Pushups

    •  10 Sit-ups

    •  20 Squats

   2. Adaptability Test 1

All candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-1 (objective type is written test) which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.

   3. Adaptability Test 2 

All candidates who pass Adaptability Test – 1 shall have to undertake Adaptability Test- 2 as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test- 2 is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.

 

Phase – III – Medical Examination

The last phase of selection for the Airforce Group X will be as per Indian Air Force Standards (IAF).

Candidates who qualify Adaptability Test-2 shall be issued with a medical appointment letter to undergo various tests as required.

 

Air Force Group X Salary

During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month shall be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP), Group ‘X’ Pay {applicable for Group ‘X’ trades only} and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:-

  • (a) Group ‘X’ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade). Rs.33,100/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
  • (b) Group ‘Y’ {Except Auto Tech, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.

Other Allowances – In addition to the above, various allowances such as Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), High Altitude Allowance, Field Area/Modified Field Area Allowance, HRA, Children Education Allowance/Hostel Subsidy etc., shall also be admissible from time to time as applicable.

Perks – Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical facilities, accommodation, CSD (Canteen) facilities, Leave (60 days Annual and 30 days Casual in a calendar year as a privilege, subject to service exigencies), Recreational facilities, Transport facility for school going children and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) shall also be provided as per the existing rules. Also, Group Insurance Cover of Rs. 37.5 Lakhs at a premium of Rs. 2300/- per month for all airmen and facility of Group Housing Scheme are also extended.

Air Force Group X Job profile

On the basis of the performance in the Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at Basic Training Institute, Belgaum specific trades are allotted to the successful candidates. After successful completion of basic training, you will be trained in specific trades. However, depending on service requirements, an airman may be assigned other jobs as required by his superior authorities and exigencies of service.

AIRMEN GROUP X (Technical)

Automobile Fitter:

In this trade, you are responsible for maintenance and repair of all types of light and heavy-duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment, etc.

Electronics Fitter:

As an Electronics Fitter, you operate and maintain Radar, Voice, and Data transmission and reception equipment mounted on latest airborne weapon delivery systems and ground-based air defence systems. You will get trained in Digital Electronics, measuring instruments, radar technology, latest electronic devices, and related trade fundamentals.

Electrical Fitter:

You will maintain the power supply system of the latest types of aircraft, airborne missiles, and associated ground systems. You will also maintain photo equipment mounted on airborne weapon systems and operate ground-based photosystems. You will get trained in the electrical trade, operation, and maintenance of digital devices, electronic devices, etc.

Mechanical System Fitter:

You will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles and aircraft fuelling equipment. Complete aircraft ground support equipment will also be repaired and maintained by you. You will be trained in handling and preparation of bombs and explosives and in the electrical systems, workshop, and mechanical trades as well as automobile mechanics.

Structures Fitter:

As Structure Fitter, you are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components, and controls of aircraft. Regular checks for the entire hydraulic and pneumatic system to ensure proper functioning against leaks are also part of your duties. You will also be assigned the responsibility of marshaling, parking, picketing and ground handling of aircraft.

Propulsion Fitter:

In this trade, you will repair, maintain and prepare for use the propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery systems.

Workshop Fitter(Smith):

You will undertake major structural repairs of all aircraft at central repair facilities. You will also be trained in workshop trade for material treatment, welding, heat treatment, smithy, and basic machine tools, etc.

Workshop Fitter (Mechanical):

You will undertake repair and maintenance work of mechanical nature. You will be trained in workshop trade and practices.

Weapon Fitter:

In this trade, you will prepare, maintain and service armaments, ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles, and other weapon delivery systems. You will also operate and maintain small arms and bomb destruction equipment. You will be trained to handle bombs, explosives, arms and their installation on weapon delivery platforms.

AIRMEN Group X (Non-Technical) 

Education Instructor:

As an Education Instructor, you will run training programs at instructional schools and improve the education level of Air Force Personnel.

Air Force Group X Exam Fee

Air Force Group X Examination Fee is Rs 250 /-. It can be paid ONLINE or OFFLINE (through challan at any Axis Bank Branch).

Air Force Group X Apply Online

Application for Air Force Group X 2020 recruitment takes place online. You can register through CASB’s official website.

  • Go to the CASB’s official website, click on ‘New Registration’.

  • Provide your basic information to complete the registration.

  • Following that, you will receive a provisional registration number and a system-generated password. Mark these down for future reference.

  • Complete the application form carefully & click on “Save and Next” after verifying details in each section.

  • You will need to upload your scanned photograph and signature and submit the form.

  • Pay the Online Application fee & take a printout of the e-receipt and online application for your future reference.
