RRB ALP Selection Procedure

The selection process of RRB Assistant Loco Pilot and Technicians has the below stages:

  • First Stage CBT (Computer Based Test)
  • Second Stage CBT
    • Part A – Same subjects of first stage CBT
    • Part B – This is on the relevant engineering discipline
  • Computer-Based Aptitude Test (only for those who have opted for ALP)
  • Document Verification

RRB ALP & Technician Exam Pattern – First Stage CBT

  • 75 Questions
  • 1 hour
  • Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks for each wrong answer
  • Minimum pass percentage: UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%

  • 175 Questions (100 Part A + 75 Part B)

  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks for each wrong answer
  • Minimum pass percentage: UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%

RRB ALP & Technician – Computer Based Adaptive Test

Candidates who opted for ALP and also who qualified in Part A and Part B of the Second Stage CBT will be called for Computer Based Adaptive Test and Document Verification.

The Computer Based Aptitude Test shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi.

There shall be NO NEGATIVE marking in Computer Based AT. It is only a qualifying exam.

The ALP merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT.

Document Verification

For Technical Posts: Based on the performance of candidates in Part A of the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT.

For ALP: based on the performance of candidates in both Part A of the Second Stage CBT and Computer-Based AT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For ALP),

Candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification.

Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of
antecedents/character of the candidates.

RRB ALP & Technician Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 28 Years

RRB ALP & Technician Upper Age limit Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC Non-creamy layer: 3 years
  • PWD: 10 years
  • Candidates ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 —- 5 years
  • Ex-Servicemen candidates who have put in more than 6 months service after attestation — Relaxation Up to the extent of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years

2. RRB ALP & Technician Educational Qualifications

Assistant Loco Pilot:

You should have Matriculation / SSLC Plus ITI/ Course Completed Act Apprentices or Diploma/ Degree in Engineering.

Technicians:

Matriculation/ SSLC Plus ITI / Course Completed Act Apprentices or 10 + 2 with Physics and Maths or Diploma in Engineering (As Applicable).

Note: Those awaiting results of the final examination of the prescribed educational/technical qualification SHOULD NOT apply.

Initial Pay is Rs 19900 /- per month plus allowances as admissible.
